So, it’s that time of the year again. I don’t know about you, but every time the terms “Fashion” and “Week” come together into one sentence, I tend to get that particular excitement that I am never able to hide. After all, this is the event that brought over 50 local fashion designers to us, in addition to notable names such as Naomi Campbell, Carmen Dell’Orefice, and Hilary Alexander amongst many others – especially winners of America’s and Asia’s Next Top Model.
Owned and organized by DFW Creative, which is widely considered as Singapore’s leading marketing agency, the Digital Fashion Week 2015 is going to take place during the dates of 28th October and 2nd November, in Singapore and Bangkok. If past seasons, since 2012, are anything to go by, then this is one must-watch event for anyone that has any slightest interest in fashion, let alone addicts like me.
Although the final lists of event and movie lineups have not been published just yet, one needs to look no further than past couple of seasons (especially last one) and see the kinds of personalities that the Digital Fashion Week welcomes. Last year alone brought the likes of world’s oldest supermodel Carmen Dell’Orefice, British guest designer Fyodor Golan, Italian guest designer Cristiano Burani and British fashion journalist Hilary Alexander among many other renowned personalities – especially fashion bloggers from throughout the globe.
Despite the event only being streamed digitally, the buzz is still felt throughout as people from all over come to visit. There is an increase of interest in hotel rooms, cars, restaurants, and even meeting room rentals throughout Singapore. The buzz is for a good reason too though, as although the lineups for this year aren’t official just yet, the past seasons’ lineups have been pretty amazing. You can feel the enthusiasm of aspiring but superbly talented young designers, each trying to push their ideas and talents to the world. And where better than a renowned digital fashion streaming?
In terms of movies though, the Digital Fashion Week starts in style with a particularly amazing addition for this year’s movie lineup. The first of the movies is going to be Fabien Constant’s documentary movie “Mademoiselle C.”, which brings the renowned Fabien Constant and his new movie to Singapore for the first time. After the movie, Q&A session and a short introduction by Mr. Constant, another extraordinary movie will be shown in the form of William Klein’s “Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo ?”, which is a rather exciting cult fashion satire.
Ultimately, although the rest of the lineups have yet to be confirmed, they sure are expected to be nothing less than super exciting. Having had some of the world’s best media and bloggers comment on last year’s Digital Fashion Week, it is now DFW Creative’s duty to pounce on that and actually rise to stardom with a superb performance all around. They know they will be grabbing considerable attention this year, and it is about time this event becomes a worldwide powerhouse!
